On Thursday and Friday we will begin viewing "Citizen King" in conjunction with are study of Chapter 2 of our text.
With permission, I was able to find website that host parts of the PBS documentary and have posted them below. In class and when available, we will use the purchased DVD. There will be some homework associated with viewing of the film. It follows the video postings.

1. Read and outline pages 45 -55 of our course text, See, Judge, Act. Complete this in your notes section. Write down any important facts and/or terms.
2. Read "Letter from Birmingham City Jail"
Highlight phrases and sentences that resonate with you. Write down any questions or insights you may have.

3. Read and Watch (see below) Dr. King's Nobel Prize Acceptance speech. Copies will be distributed in class. Again, highlight phrases and sentences that resonate with you. Write down any questions or insights you may have.

4. Due Wednesday, 2/13 (Day 4) 1 to 1/2 pages, double-spaced, typed. Answer two questions, 10 sentences for each minimum
Question 1 : The political leaders of Jesus' time feared his vision of the world based on love. Reflecting pages 45 -55 of our text and your reading of Dr. King's two speeches, what was Dr. King saying that echoed Jesus' words in the text and Gospels that threatened the status quo or order of society? Question 2: Why did King feel non-violence, in particular non-violent active resistance, is the only way to confront injustice and violence? as well as humankind's inherent dignity?
